Sharing Power Automate Desktop Flows

Microsoft has recently released a feature that allows makers to share their Desktop flows with other users in their organization. This allows for team development as organizations built out their RPA solutions.
Cloud flows have supported sharing for quite some time, however this feature was absent in Power Automate Desktop until the GA release in December 2020. By using Solutions and the sharing capabilities in Cloud flows and now Desktop flows, teams can approach a business problem with parallel development activities.
Let’s take a look at how this feature works:
• When we navigate to the Power Automate portal and then click on My flows and then Desktop flows, we will find all our Desktop flows available. From there, we can click on the ellipses (…) and then click on Share.
There are two different roles that can be assigned to a user who the Desktop flow has been shared with:
• User – which provides the ability for another user to run the Desktop flow
• Co-Owner – who can edit, delete, see run history and add or delete others
Now if we log in as the user who we just shared the Desktop flow with, we will see that we have Co-Owner permissions.
Conclusion
In this post, we covered an important new capability that allows for the team development of RPA automation scenarios. This allows a team to take a larger problem and break it down into smaller chunks in order to scale efforts.
